NAVIGATORS
CLINCH NO. 2 SEED,
WILL
HOST FIRST PLAYOFF SERIES VS.
LYNN,
MA (August 1, 2010) – The North Shore Navigators of the New England Collegiate
Baseball League (NECBL) finished the regular season with a 25-17 record, two
games back of the Newport Gulls (27-15) for the division title. They clinched a
postseason spot early last week and will enter the 2010 NECBL playoffs as the
No. 2 seed in the Eastern Division. They will have home field advantage in
their quarterfinal round opening series against the Sanford Mainers on Monday evening
(6:15 p.m.) at Fraser Field.
The
top-four teams from both the Eastern and Western Divisions qualify for the
postseason under the current NECBL playoff structure. Both divisional rounds as
well as the NECBL championship series will all follow a best two-of-three
format.

in the East,
In
the West, the North Adams SteepleCats (1) will face the Keene Swamp Bats (4),
and the Danbury Westerners (2) will take on Bristol Collegiate (3). The
Navigators went a combined 5-3 against those four West playoffs teams.
The
Navigators, who opened the season with six straight losses, won 12 of 14 including
five in a row at one point over a two-week stretch to close out the month of
June.
They
finished tied for second in the league in runs scored (198) and posted a 3.26
ERA as a team, while their 12-9 road record was tops in the NECBL. The Navs'
Jason Banos was named the All-Star Game MVP back on July 18 and he finished
third in the league in hitting at .348. He has hit .391 (34-for-87) since June
28.

for all Navigators' playoffs games at Fraser Field are $6. Fans can purchase
tickets at the gate or during box office hours at the stadium from 10 a.m. – 4
