Tonight's match-up: North Shore (19-12) is 4-0 thus far in 2010 against the Lowell All-Americans (8-21), who defeated Danbury 9-6 yesterday in the continuation of a suspended game from earlier this month before dropping a 8-2 loss to Laconia in the second game of their team twinbill. Lowell starter John Sheehan has allowed opposing batters to hit just .225 against him in seven games (six starts) this season, and he is 11^th in the league in innings pitched (31). Navs' starter Jack Mayfield went 5-0 on the mound this year for the Oklahoma Sooners, and he didn't allow a run over two innings in his only appearance of the season for North Shore back on July 12.

Banos named All-Star Game MVP: Navigators' outfielder Jason Banos received the MVP award at this past Sunday's 2010 NECBL All-Star Game after he hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Banos also participated in the Home Run Derby earlier in the afternoon and is arguably the hottest hitter in the NECBL. He is riding a seven-game hitting streak in which he is hitting .481 (13-for-27) with seven runs scored and five RBI. Banos has also reached base safely in a league-best 19 straight games. He is hitting .432 over that span.

Navs' All-Stars shine: In addition to Banos, the other five Navs all made a big impact in Newport. Matt Avery started in centerfield and went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the second inning. Tyler Kuehl also started at second base and scored a run. Nolan Corr, Crayton Bare, and Bryant Gauthier pitched the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings for the East squad. Each had perfect 1-2-3 innings as the three combined to face the minimum nine batters, while Bare and Gauthier both struck out one. The East pounded out 13 hits offensively while the West mustered just one hit on the night in getting shut out by the dominating Eastern division staff.

Last Game (7/17 – Navigators 3, North Adams 2): The Navigators came away with a win at North Adams on Saturday night after they scored two runs in the ninth inning for a 3-2 come-from-behind victory. Down a run with one out in the final frame, Dario Pizzano and Anthony Melchionda drew back-to-back walks to set the stage for the comeback. Ben

Waldrip followed with an RBI single to tie it, and Bryce Tafelski's sacrifice fly scored Melchionda for the 3-2 lead.

Navs' starter Michael Johnson went the first five innings, allowing just two runs on three hits. Daniel Patrick got the win in relief after four hitless innings while adding a pair of strikeouts. Braxton Graven had two hits to extend his hitting streak to four games. He is hitting .571 (8-for-14) with six runs scored and an RBI over that stretch.

Navs sporting league's best record: The Navs enter tonight's game at 19-12, as their .613 winning percentage is tops in the NECBL. They are 7-4 in July, including 3-1 at home this month. Overall, they have now won 19 of 25 since beginning the season with six straight losses.
