HIGH SCHOOL REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT
APPEAL
HEARING POSTPONED
Franklin, MA, May 7, 2009 - - The appeal by Mansfield High School before
the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Council (MIAC) scheduled
for today has been postponed after the two parties reached a tentative
agreement.
Mansfield H.S. was appealing a decision by the Massachusetts Interscholastic
Athletic Association’s (MIAA) Board of Directors to suspend Football
Coach Michael Redding for five games as a result of his failure to report
in a timely manner the use of an ineligible player last season. The
school was also appealing the MIAA decision to assess them legal fees
incurred in the matter.
Attorneys reached an agreement that must be reduced to writing, reviewed
by the MIAA Board and ratified before it is official. The Board will
take up the agreement at its June 4th meeting. Terms of the agreement
are not being released until it is finalized.
